NEW DELHI: Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni said today that she has asked Prasar Bharati to work towards offering at least 200 television channels on the country’s only free-to-air direct-to-home (DTH) platform, DD Direct Plus.
‘We are discussing the matter with the Prasar Bharati people, and I have asked them to try to increase the number of FTA channels to about 200,” Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni told reporters here after releasing the annual India 2010 and Bharat 2010 reference manual brought out by the Publications Division and the Research and Reference Division of her Ministry.
Currently, DD Direct Plus carries 57 channels, apart from 21 channels of All India Radio. The TV channels include 21 Doordarshan channels.
I had purchased DD Direct Plus DTH machine 6yrs back. and since then some channels are added and some removed. overall DTH response and clarity is better than cable. DD Bharti, and Tirumalla channel, DW channel, Music Channels, Astha, Jagran, Zee smile, Star Utsav are some mostly viewed and favorite channels. other channels also have their own importance. If you add some international channels European and other interesting which shows teley plays etc., it will be most appreciable.
I want to suggest you that if you try your best to add Discovery channels (old episodes if new are not possible) and National Geographic (old episodes if new are not possible) then we the free DTH users will be highly obliged. and you will see the boom in sale of Doordarshan’s DTH.
Plese add more dd channels my sug:
1. DD Movie(cinema)
2. DD Music(sangeeth)
3. DD Kids
4. DD English
and more…
If your are adding more channels than please add channels like discovery and history. It will very useful for students.
