ETC Celebrates 100 Years Of Indian Cinema

The directorial cast of Bombay Talkies made an appearance on the much talked about show; ETC Bollywood Business with Trade expert Komal Nahta . The excited team was on the show to share their experiences about each of their short films in the upcoming and much awaited movie Bombay Talkies which is slated to release on 3rd may.

The interview showcases how each director is completely different than the other in terms of growing up, directorial styles, interests and passions and how bollywood has evolved over these past 100 years. This episode of Bollywood Business will be aired exclusively on ETC on 3rd May at 8:30 pm with a repeat telecast at 11:30 on the same night.

The trio talks about the evolution of bollywood over the past hundred years,the oldest movies that the directors have seen, the longest kiss on celluloid and the journey of each of their careers in bollywood.

The episode reveals how these three directors actually came on board to sign the film-Bombay Talkies. Here Karan Johar speaks about how he has immense respect for the other three directors Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap and this was an opportunity that he dint want to let go of. Dibakar talks about how the audience will see the emotional similarity towards cinema. “It is like a full course Bengali meal!every film is different but our connect with cinema is the same. It was a golden chance. Such a kind of film will not be made again”he states.

Komal Nahta goes on to ask Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar about how difficult it was for them to work on small budget films as usually their films are made on huge budgets and grand locations. Zoya admits that her story did not need so much money to go ahead with while Karan on the other hand jokes about how he did not pay anyone for the film as he worked with close friends. “They came for their love for cinema and their passion for me!” he exclaimed.

He goes on to talk about how he wanted to do it to prove the point that he can work in that budget. It would be for the first time that Karan shot on Mumbai streets. Karan also reveals how hindi films was only reason why he was a happy child. ‘I was the only child I was fat Hindi films were the only good thing in my life” Towards the end of the interview Dibakar Banerjee talks about how hindi films symbolize songs, sentiments, family and tradition. This according to Dibakar will finally be the one film his parents will be able to watch!
